How it Happened: The Washington & Jefferson wrestling team improved to 7-4 on the season in dual matches with a 36-13 nonconference victory over Penn State Fayette on Senior Night at the Henry Memorial Center.
 
Top Performers: Mike Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bethel Park) earned a pair of victories on the day, claiming a pinfall in 1:35 of his match at 133 and then recording an 11-0 major decision in an exhibition later in the evening. Dan Pommerer (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) needed just 2:25 to pin his opponent at 149, while Sonnieboy Blanco (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) was one second slower at 184, recording the pin in 2:26.
 
The Rest: Nick Kumburis (Cedar Grove, N.J./Cedar Grove) claimed an injury default win at the heavyweight class after 2:25. Jakub Kielb (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) (165) and William Oberschelp (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) (197) both picked up forfeit victories. In the final match of the evening, an exhibition at 285, Derek Allen (Avella, Pa./Avella) earned a 2-1 decision.
 
What's Next: The Presidents will travel to Wilkes-Barre this weekend, Saturday, Jan. 28, for a quad match with Keystone (11 am), SUNY-Oneonta (1 pm) and host Wilkes (3 pm).
