BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Three members of the Washington & Jefferson women's water polo team earned Division III Player of the Week honors from the Collegiate Water Polo Association for their performances at the Villanova Invitational.

Sophomore Sarah Latzo (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria) was named Player of the Week after leading the Presidents with 10 goals over the four games, including a career-high five in W&J's season-opening win over Division I St. Francis (Brooklyn). That victory marked the first time in program history that the Presidents topped an NCAA Division I team as well as being the first time since 2012 that W&J opened the season with a win. In the second game of the tournament, Latzo recorded a hat trick with three goals against host Villanova and then added two more on Sunday against Siena.

Classmate Ally Hopkins (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) recorded 27 saves, five assists and five steals over the weekend to claim Defensive Player of the Week laurels for the third time in her career. In the win against St. Francis, she tallied 13 saves, three assists and a steal. She then picked up four saves versus Villanova before turning away 10 shots and adding two assists and four steals against Siena.

Freshman Elizabeth Klock (New Lennox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) collected CWPA Division III Rookie of the Week honors after her first collegiate action. For the weekend, she posted a goal, assist and three ejections drawn, as her first-career goal came against Villanova.

The Presidents are ranked No. 10 in Division III by the CWPA and return to the pool on Friday, March 6 with a 7:30 contest at Grove City before hosting the only two home games of the year on Saturday, March 7 at 4:30 p.m. against Penn State Behrend and 7:30 p.m. versus Grove City.
