2012 Olympic Gold Medalist To Speak at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist water polo player Brenda Villa will be on the Washington & Jefferson College campus on March 29 at 6:00 pm for a discussion about her life and development one of the world's top water polo athletes. 

The discussion will take place in the Burnett Center (Room 114) and the 2003 Stanford graduate will describe her experience of balancing academics and athletics.  Villa has played in four Olympic Games (2000 - silver, 2004 - bronze, 2008 - silver, 2012 - gold) for the United States and has competed professionally in Italy since 2008. 

Villa's appearance coincides with the 2014 CWPA Division III Tournament that will be held at Washington & Jefferson College's Henry Memorial Natatorium that weekend (Mar. 28-30).  The only eight NCAA Division III women's water polo varsity programs will be in competition on the W&J campus all weekend long.  Tournament Schedule

The day (March 30) after her appearance at W&J, Villa will hold a water polo clinic at North Allegheny High School with two sessions (10:00 am - Noon; Noon - 2:00 pm).  The water clinic is $30.00 and each session is limited to 25 girls.  Water
time will focus on shooting, passing, and body position...all keys a player needs to be an all-around threat in the pool.
